Community-supported Agriculture, also known as Community-shared Agriculture.

CSA’s began in the United States in the 1980’s. Customers pay the farmer for a share of the harvest prior to the growing season.  This provide's the farmer with funds to help with the cost of production.  By prepaying, the customer receives a weekly share of the harvest.

Shares purchased from T.S. Smith and Sons could include: sweet corn, cantaloupes, peaches, nectarines, green beans, yellow squash, Lima beans, nine varieties of apples, tomatoes, green  pepper, sweet potatoes, zucchini, kale, collards, turnips, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and Brussels sprouts.  The Season is 18 weeks from July 1st to October 31st. If a problem in production or harvest occurs, local honey, cheese or apple cider could be included. A full or half share can be purchased.  A full share is approximately a bushel box of produce.
